New Moon (Twilight's 2nd Book)

The story, which bears no resemblance to that of the "New Moon" performed by Grace Moore and Lawrence Tibbett back in 1930, follows rather the original libretto played on Broadway in 1928. It is an eighteenth-century story of a titled but rebellious Frenchman and a gentle-lady of New Orleans, into whose service he enters in the guise of a footman. They fall in love, of course, then quarrel, and he leads an uprising of bonded men. There is a flight aboard ships, a sea battle, a shipwreck and an idyllic interlude upon an uncharted island in the West Indies. And then Miss MacDonald and Mr. Eddy get melodiously married.
